civil war

The civil war in China was another spark that led to the blow up of the cold war. China was separated into two parts. One half was nationalism which was led by Chiang and the other was communism led by Mao Zedong. America has already been its share of war because we where trying to contain communism and this was no different. American gave economic support to Ciang because he was on the side against the communist but didn't always do right with the money. Chiang was accused of being corrupt and not doing what is best for its county which led to America losing control over china and letting it fall to communism. This was a huge set back for America because we believe that if one nation falls to communism soon nations around will do the same." Domino Theory"

S.T.A.R.T

A modern day analysis of the cold war is when president Obama signed a arms treaty with Russia. During the cold war nuclear forces between the superpower was a big part all of the problems. No one country wanted to be trumped by the other when it came to military forces. So in order to avoid world war 3 or any other sort of war the nations with a large amount nuclear power would agree to reduce all weapons to a certain number. The treaty stated that if two countries reduced missiles and launchers that it may prevent nuclear terrorism in Iron and North Korea which would help keep world peace. Which concludes that problem that we had during the cold war are still a problem today.
The space race was when the United States and Russia where competing to see who could put a satellite into orbit first. On October 4, 1957 Russia had successfully launched Sputnik into orbit. The news of Sputnik had reached all around the world. American feared that if Russia put a satellite into outer space than they could launch a missile from space and hit us. We felt vulnerable and safe so during school students would have drills in case a missile hit. Less than a year later America had successful launched satellite in January of 1958.

Cold War Tension

After world war 2 tension between the superpowers were at a all time high. A cause of some of the tension had to do with the fact that America had came up with the atomic bomb. At the begging of world war 2 Albert Einstein wrote president and other scientists telling them that uranium - 235 could be used to make a atomic bomb. Soon after United states government started the research and creation of the bomb calling it the " Manhattan Project". Only few were aloud to know about it. When the bomb was done it was done it was tested in Nevada. NO one else had came up with such a deadly weapon at the time so America had a advantage over other countries. When FDR died Truman was in charge of what to do with the bomb. Even though it would kill Innocent people if we bombed Japan it would end the war and save many American lives. When the first a bomb was dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki it did just that.

The Cold War was a period of conflict and competition between United Sates and the Soviet Union that evolved into a war. After World War 2 European countries that had been involved in the war were no longer able to provide support to other fallen nations. Great Britain had lots of rebuilding of it country and could no give financial aid to Greece and France. So Truman came up with doctrine that gave aid to these countries. It also let our former allies know that they can depend on America to do something and follow through. Since the Soviet Union knew that no one would vote for communism for fallen European countries at the Potsdam meeting. The U.S.S.R started aiding European counties with economical troubles so in return they would become communist. The United States didn't like the idea of communism spreading so the secretary of state came up with the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan was a law that gave military and economic support to European countries so they would not have to get help from U.S.S.R and fall under communism. After this time tension between the Soviet Union and United States was at a all time high.
